Johnny Depp Will Investigate The Murders Of Biggie And Tupac In LABYRINTH

Depp is attached to play detective Russell Poole, the Los Angeles police detective who investigated the murders of rappers Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur, in Labyrinth, sources have confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

Screen Daily first reported the news.

The film will be based on Randall Sullivan’s 2002 book by the same name. He believed that Death Row Records’ Suge Knight worked with LAPD officer David Mack to have Biggie killed. Poole’s investigative work was also a source for the book Tupac:187 and the documentary Biggie & Tupac.

But Depp won plenty of critical praise for his portrayal of Boston mobster Whitey Bulger in last year’s “Black Mass”.

Brad Furman, who directed “The Lincoln Lawyer”, will helm “Labyrinth”.

Known for completely immersing himself into his characters, actor Johnny Depp’s latest role is sure to be one of his most fascinating yet. After a very public divorce filing, they both issued a joint statement of their “at times volatile” relationship and well wishes for each other in future. During his investigation, Poole came to realize that a growing cadre of black officers were allied not only with Death Row, but with the murderous Bloods street gang.
