Johnny Manziel issues statement after being waived by Browns

Even though the Browns are finally done with one of the biggest first-round busts in franchise history, they still are responsible for the final two years of his rookie contract at a total of $2,173, 997. He had all the opportunity to turn this decline around, and no one could call him out if he was giving it his all, but at the walkthrough before the final game of the 2014 season, Manziel was nowhere to be seen.

But his on-field performance alone didn’t come close to defining the Manziel era in Cleveland. Manziel completed 147 of 258 passes (57 percent) with seven touchdowns, seven interceptions and a career passer rating of 74.4.

So it seems that Manziel will not get the Ray Rice treatment, despite the fact that both of them have been associated with domestic violence issues.

Manziel’s father said last month that his son would not follow the suggestion from the family to return to rehab.

After being cut by the Browns on Friday, Manziel has gone unclaimed off waivers.

After the Browns selected the Texas A&M star with the 22nd pick of the 2014 NFL Draft, owner Jimmy Haslam revealed that he relied on some very untraditional scouting when deciding to take Johnny Football.

The Cleveland Browns did everything they could do to make him a success, but he is not ready to be a player just yet.

January saw a more serious incident between Manziel and Crowley.

It all began with such promise.

“I want guys that have high character and guys that have high football character, ” Jackson told Cleveland.com. The team at first stood by him, but soon decided they’d had enough.

Back in Cleveland, fans quickly scooped up tickets and his No. 2 jersey. Crowley was said to have attempted trying to get away from Manziel before breaking free and going to a nearby neighbor seeking help, at which time, he left the scene.

He returned to the starting lineup and led the Browns to a win over San Francisco and made two more starts before sustaining a concussion. Police who showed up at the scene didn’t arrest Manziel because Crowley refused to cooperate. According to an ESPN report, he was in Las Vegas that weekend in disguise and identified himself as “Billy”.
