There is a leader in the Denver Broncos’ starting quarterback competition.

On Saturday, Siemian and Sanchez will play 1.5 quarters apiece, and Paxton Lynch will show what he can do the remainder of the game. Siemian also took the majority of first-team reps in practice against San Francisco’s defense. The Broncos are hoping to use both Sanchez and Siemian Saturday.

Siemian, a second-year player, is battling veteran Mark Sanchez for the starting spot to begin the regular season.

Gary Kubiak, per NFL.com, announced the plans to have Siemian start on Saturday.

Chad Jensen is the Publisher of Mile High Huddle. “When we are not on the field you are rooting for the other guy to complete a pass, to convert the third down, to make the right check, and that’s the kind of relationship you want”, Sanchez said. If I send one of them out there and he throws it four times and the other throws it 15, I’d like to see that pretty equal so I can watch their decision-making process and those types of things.

“I think the key thing is to be patient with it, stay objective”, VP and general manager John Elway recently told USA Today, “and that’s why I’m not trying to sit there and keep putting them in an order but wait through the third preseason game and see if somebody jumps out at you”. “As far as me personally, I think I am right where I want to be, making good decisions and throwing the ball really well”.

“We continue to see Mark’s growth in his knowledge of what we’re doing, ” Kubiak said during a one-on-one interview with 9news. Linebacker DeMarcus Ware (back problems) has been sidelined, though Kubiak says he’s close to returning, as has cornerback Aqib Talib, who’s still recovering from a gunshot wound he suffered during the offseason (and which still is being investigated).

Siemian and Sanchez will each play roughly a quarter and a half. The Broncos wrapped up the second and final day of joint practices with the 49ers at their Dove Valley training facility. “Like I did in college, if I felt the pocket break down, then I wasn’t hesitant to run and try to make a play that way outside of the pocket”.
