JoJo was forced to inject herself to lose weight
The Leave (Get Out) singer, whose real name is Joanna Noëlle Blagden Levesque, explained in detail how she “injected” herself and stuck to a restrictive diet in order to drop weight quickly, in a new interview with PopSugar on Thursday.

“I felt bad about myself, and I was upset that I even subscribed to the standard they wanted me to be at”, she said, explaining that after all was said and done she ended up “gaining all the weight back”. So they got me with a nutritionist and had me on all these supplements and like, I was injecting myself.
JoJo was once told to “lose weight fast” or risk not having her album released by her former record label.
“I felt awful about myself, and I was upset that I even subscribed to the standard they wanted me to be at”, she said. “So it’s not like it even worked!” the 25-year-old pop star adds, referencing issues she had with her label at the time which prevented her from releasing the record.
What do you think about JoJo’s weight loss confession?
The artist has been releasing new music since late previous year and debuted a new single featuring Wiz Khalifa.
Last September, JoJo marked her first official return to the music biz by debuting a sexy music video for “When Love Hurts”.
A far cry from that young teenage girl, JoJo said she doesn’t feel the pressure like she once did.
However, JoJo did share that she still cares about what other people think – she doesn’t let it make or break her decisions.

JoJo’s new studio album “Mad Love” will be released on Atlantic Records and is the follow-up to 2006’s “The High Road”. I felt like, ‘If I don’t do this, my album won’t come out.’ And it didn’t! She has since been open about her eating disorder and mental health struggles, speaking earlier this week at the Democratic National Convention. She was known for such hits like “Too Little Too Late” and “How to Touch a Girl”. “Listening and following are different things”. “I think listening and showing respect to people you respect … it works for me”.
