Jon Bon Jovi says he didn’t want to disappoint Vancouver fans

It’s not quite in the same league as Mick touting The Stones sans Keith, but a Sambora-less Bon Jovi is a significant loss, for sure – more akin, perhaps, to Axl Rose fronting Guns N’ Roses without Slash (a sacrilege many fans will never forgive). Instead it was refashioned into a collection to fulfil the group’s contractual obligation to Mercury.

The rocker told Billboard, “This hits it right in the head and tells you what happened”.

Two years ago, Bon Jovi’s band was the first inducted into Toronto’s Air Canada Centre Hall of Fame after playing a record 17 shows there since the arena opened in 1999.

Bon Jovi has been with Mercury Records for 32 years, but the band will leave the label, Jon Bon Jovi told Billboard.

The video’s release precedes Bon Jovi’s scheduled Asian tour that includes stops in mainland cities Beijing and Shanghai, as well as Macao, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Seoul.

It’s the latest song the band has revealed from their “fan album” Burning Bridges and follows We Don’t Run and Blind Love. Listen to the lyrics.

In July, Bon Jovi gave some insight into the album in an advance performance and private Q&A at B.B. Kings Blues Club in New York City. The Burning Bridges album was set to be released August 21. “We’ve parted ways. I f you listen to Burning Bridges, the song, it’s clearly spelled out”. This song compilation, the group’s 14th studio-made record, represents a beginning and an end.

Then he went on to talk about a new record to be dropped in April or May that will be “fantastic”.

Bon Jovi’s makeup performance at Rogers Arena was organized in a hurry after the cancelled event to honour the fans. Most of all, he said he was sad he would not be able to join forces with guitarist and hero Robby Krieger, before leading his band into The Doors’ Touch Me.

“A lot happened. Richie’s [Sambora] sudden departure, my trying to buy the [Bufallo] Bills and now this with the label”.
