Jon Bon Jovi to play Vancouver after original show cancelled

After all, this is the first Bon Jovi album without guitarist Richie Sambora, though he does share a writing credit on the first single, “Saturday Night Gave Me Sunday Morning”.

In a statement released Wednesday, Paper Rain Performances blames low ticket sales and the rock star’s unwillingness to postpone the concert, scheduled for this Saturday, for the fiasco.

The Rogers Arena show will be open to all fans that purchased tickets to the Stanley Park concert.

The City of Vancouver said earlier this week that Paper Rain did not have the required permits for the group to perform at Stanley Park.

Jon honors all commitments and we wanted to make sure everybody there is taken care of”, said Paul Korzilius of Bon Jovi Management to the Asbury Park Press. “There are a lot of accusations out there and at this point it’s a matter for attorneys”.

“The reality is that not enough tickets were sold to cover the cost of the artist and the band’s fee, much less the other substantial costs involved”, the statement reads.

Bon Jovi, said Korzilius, was nevertheless determined to perform the show as scheduled. “And the Parks Board did everything they could to make that happen, but it just didn’t”.

Bon Jovi himself is disappointed the originally planned show failed.

“We are very happy that Rogers Arena was available”, he said.

“The good news is Jon is honouring his commitment to his fans”.

Bon Jovi will release Burning Bridges, described by the band as “a fan album”, ahead of an upcoming global tour.

“Rogers Arena is where the Vancouver Canucks (of the NHL) play”, Korzilius said. We also commend our partners, Tourism Vancouver and Tickets Tonight for their quick, diligent work.
