Jon Leuer’s big fourth quarter helps Phoenix Suns rally past Dallas Mavericks

Back in Dallas in orange and purple, Tyson Chandler emphasized that he held no hard feelings towards the Mavericks after they let him walk this summer in pursuit of DeAndre Jordan. Cuban said. “You don’t see us blaming it on the players”. “I walked my son into the arena and I already have my name on the rafters up there (on the championship banner), but I wanted to have my jersey up like”. After trading for Chandler last summer, Cuban practically admitted letting Chandler leave was a mistake. Seven months later, the same thing happens again. “You know, our hope is to get a few of these guys into a few live action very soon, and possibly tomorrow but I don’t know that for sure. That’s why it is what it is”. Keeping Chandler would’ve at least given the Mavericks a shot at the playoffs, but they’ll be relegated to the lottery again with the roster Cuban has put together.

The presence of Tyson Chandler picking-and-rolling should nudge Markieff Morris, a sneaky good passer, into more perimeter playmaking, and T.J. Warren is going to dust fools on old-school backdoor cuts. As the top defender on the court, Chandler was even considered by many as the MVP of the team. And just like this last free agency period, the Mavs had their eyes on a significant upgrade. It works for you sometimes and sometimes it doesn’t.

“He went for a home run when I was here in getting Rondo”. Employers are always looking for better options in products, systems, and personnel. We had extension discussions for a reason.

Chandler chose to sign a four-year, $52 million deal with the Phoenix Suns, informing the Mavs’ brass of his decision moments before their noon meeting with Jordan started on the first day of free agency.

“I feel like the whole situation was all bad – twice”.

“I didn’t expect it to go the way it did”, Chandler said. He needs to be committed to or shown the door because he will not stand by, for even a second, if he thinks the Mavericks are trying to upgrade from him. And at the time I felt like I was robbed of that. I felt like I didn’t deserve that. “I felt that I’ve accomplished a lot in this league and I wasn’t going to play second fiddle to anybody”. The Mavericks, meanwhile, are left without Chandler, without Jordan, and with only regret at the center position (and JaVale McGee).

Chandler was a free agent after the 2010-11 season ended. And the Mavs came thiiiiiiiiiis close to signing him too.

Both sides will move on, just as they did in 2011. It’s not that the Mavs didn’t want Chandler.

Loyalty just doesn’t have a place in professional sports. It’s about doing what’s best for you as a player and you as a team. It’s their right and their choice to do what seems right.

He added that the team closely studies a player’s running style, as it affects whether and where they’re going to develop inflammations later in life.
