Jon Stewart hosted his final episode of The Daily Show Thursday night, and he went out with a bang. But as last night’s farewell proved, host Trevor Noah will have big shoes to fill, shoes that contained Jon Stewart’s harry Hobbit toes.

Past correspondents were trotted out throughout the show, including Steve Carell, his wife Nancy Carell, Stephen Colbert, John Oliver, Ed Helms, Larry Wilmore and Samantha Bee.
However, as another Twitter user said: “Jon Stewart’s last episode of The Daily Show watched by 0 people in NZ – thanks @SKYNZ @comedycentralnz for you fail” [sic].
Stewart first hosted the show in 1999 and it was his mocking of the following year’s election which made him a star and catapulted the show, broadcast on Comedy Central, into the national consciousness.
There was also a reel of sarcastic sendoffs from some of the comic’s most frequent targets, including Fox News host Bill O’Reilly, who shouted: “Have fun feeding your rabbits, quitter!”
Whatever Stewart plans to do next, he can leave “The Daily Show” with the knowledge that the finale was out of this world.
“We’ve seen the correspondents, we’ve met everyone who works here and now I feel like I should probably say something…” Stewart himself said “It the most handsome place he’s ever been”. ‘You good?’ Stewart asked the former correspondent. I think he’s disappointed that he didn’t accomplish that goal, and we, of course, supplied him with half of his comedy.
Stewart, who was born in New York but grew up in Lawrenceville, NJ, was clearly moved at the end of the show. Stewart replied by saying, “I don’t really want that”. You are a great artist and a good man. I know you are not asking for this, but on behalf of so many people whose lives you’ve changed over the last 16 years, thank you. “We’re merely taking a small pause in the conversation”.

The network said the episode also brought in 1 million streams via its Comedy Central app, DailyShow.com and Hulu.
