Jon Stewart takes on Trump, Fox News behind Colbert’s desk
Jon Stewart has been gone from late-night television for nearly a year now, and we’re not entirely sure if we ever felt his absence more than we did after watching the segment below from Thursday night’s edition of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”. Stewart brought the righteous rage he’s known for and pointed it at perhaps his favorite target over the years: Sean Hannity and his endless hypocrisies.

Stewart mocked Hannity and conservative media for how they have elected Donald Trump as a candidate. Then he kicked Colbert out of his chair and delivered a very Jon Stewart takedown of Trump’s speech and the GOP convention.
Stewart also had harsh words for Trump supporters who claim to want to “take back” America. The only problem with that: this country isn’t yours.
“I see you, and I see your bullsh*t!” he said. “Because when you’re on television they do makeup and the lighting is just right and you’re wearing a nice suit and everything – and now you’re seeing me as I normally am”. Stewart said, pointing to a picture of the pope. The bit lasted about 10 minutes.
Melania Trump, wife of Donald, was accused of plagiarism early on in the week.
It was at that point-when Stewart loosed a profanity that was, of course, promptly censored by CBS-that Colbert popped his head up again and reminded his old friend they were on live TV. You sure as hell don’t own bravery and respect for the sacrifice of the military, police and firefighters. “You probably eat that fancy burger with your mouth instead of like a real American: Having a magnum fire ’em up your ass, like they serve ’em at Arbys”. You don’t own patriotism.
He then called out rightwingers for doing nothing to aid the 9/11 first responders bill reauthorization, then suddenly pretending to care about “blue lives” when it suits their (anti-black and brown) agenda.

If there was ever a time the world needed Jon Stewart’s witty, straight-forward, political thinking, it was now. He wrapped up his remarks by noting, “Those fighting to be included in the ideal of equality are not being divisive”.
