Jon Stewart to Trump Supporters ‘You Don’t Own America’

Stewart quickly turned his attention to Fox News host Sean Hannity – whom Stewart referred to as “Lumpy” – and Republican voters, asserting that they will now have to accept Trump, who’s a “thin-skinned narcissist with no government experience”. The hypocrisy of Hannity accusing Obama of elitism for putting Dijon mustard on a burger, then supporting Donald Trump, who “sits on a literal golden throne at the top of a golden tower with his name in gold letters at the top of it, eating pizza with a knife and fork”, is ludicrous in itself, but with Stewart at the helm, it’s a scathing, acidic takedown.

“You feel you’re this country’s rightful owners”. There’s only one problem with that. You don’t own it. It never was.

The beloved comic and political satirist came out of his late-night retirement for a few minutes on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” to do what he always did best – offer some biting political commentary and take on his “favorite” news outlet, Fox News. “There is no ‘real America.’ You don’t own it”, Stewart charged.

With the Rio Olympics coming up, Stewart said he will enjoy “the gymnastics portion of the program” – or the “contortions that many conservatives will have to do now to embrace Donald J. Trump”. “You don’t own Christianity, you sure as hell don’t own respect for the bravery and sacrifice of military, police, and firefighters”.

“I saw a lot of people on the convention floor at Cleveland with their Blue Lives Matter rhetoric, who either remained silent or actively fought against the 9/11 first responders’ bill reauthorization”.

“I see you and I see your bullshit”, yelled a furious Stewart, pointing his finger down the lens of the camera.

“Those fighting to be included in the ideal of equality are not being divisive”. I thought Donald Trump was going to speak – Ivanka said that he was going to come out.

Perhaps an even bigger comparison to be made last night was how easily Jon Stewart got back into his ranting rhythm right on the very stage where Stephen Colbert has struggled to hold an audience.
