JonBenet Ramsey’s brother speaks to Dr. Phil about her murder

In a three-part interview with Dr. Phil airing this month, Burke will delve deep into what happened on December 26, 1996, from his perspective and what it was like – at just 9 years old – to find out his baby sister had been murdered.

The department, Testa said, is still committed to finding justice for JonBenet two decades later. The Ramsey family was originally suspected of being involved in the child’s death but were cleared in 2008, two years after the death of Patsy Ramsey from ovarian cancer. Like, it just made me a very private person.

Dr. Phil’s exclusive interview with Burke Ramsey continues Monday, September 19 at 4pm on CBS4.

Burke also said, with the anniversary and so much interest still in his sister’s murder, he wanted to be able to control the narrative and pay tribute to JonBenet. The Dr. Phil coup had the potential to at least bring something new to the table – after all, 29-year-old Burke has never spoken publicly about the case before – but the pickings have been pretty slim so far.

After 20 years, the brother of 6-year-old JonBenet Ramsey is breaking his silence about her murder. Her body was later discovered in the basement.

An autopsy determined that JonBenet died of asphyxiation caused by strangulation, according to the Denver Post.

“I remember her saying, ‘Where’s my baby?” “The next thing I remember is a police officer coming into my room, shining a flashlight”.

“I guess I kinda like to avoid conflict”, Burke tells Dr. Phil. “I don’t want anyone to forget”, he says in the episode that is set to air Monday, the same day that Investigation Discovery airs JonBenét: An American Murder Mystery.

He said eventually he went downstairs to the kitchen area, where others had gathered, and learned from detectives that his sister had disappeared.

“My dad just said, ‘She’s in heaven, ‘” he said.

“I was scared I think”, he said. “Absolutely nothing that would lead me to believe that anybody was sexually abusing her in any way”. Would you want them to have to talk about a tragedy like that, and deny their role in it, in front of the whole nation?
