Jones carries Orioles to 3-2 win over Rockies in 10 innings

Adam Jones scored on a 10th-inning fielder’s choice and error by pitcher Jordan Lyles, and the Baltimore Orioles stretched their winning streak to five with a 3-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies Monday night. Lyles got what he wanted from Machado, a comebacker, but bobbled it before throwing to catcher Nick Hundley, who dropped the ball allowing Jones to score and the Orioles to win, 3-2. It was just a dumb play. “It was a tough one for Nick”. The Colorado Rockies offense continues to crush, and they’ve won 10 straight games when scoring more than three runs.

Baltimore’s winning rally began with some help from the baseball gods. Jones caromed a single off the third-base bag and Jonathan Schoop followed with looping single to right, moving Jones to third.

The Rockies were then hoping to turn a double play, but it didn’t happen and another close victory escaped their grasp.

Lyles’ error was Colorado’s third of the night. Schoop’s 28th double of the year, followed by an error by Rockies Gold Glove third baseman Nolan Arenado and a walk loaded the bases in the first inning.

Dahl had a substantial impact in his first big-league game.

After Gallardo picked off Carlos Gonzalez for that inning’s second out, David Dahl got his first major league hit, a single to center.

“I was very anxious and very excited”, said Dahl, who finished the night 1-for-4. Dahl’s debut started out rough, as he struck out in each of his first two at-bats. “Fortunately, I was able to get a hit and get to second base”. Orioles C Matt Wieters (foot) missed the last six games and is day-to-day.2. De La Rosa fared better in his previous start against AL East competition, limiting the New York Yankees to three hits in five scoreless innings on June 14.Gallardo has gone four consecutive turns without a quality start but at least worked deeper into the game when he served up four runs in seven innings at the Yankees on Wednesday. Reimold motored to third on Dariel Alverez’s double to left and scored on Jones’ groundout to short. The question now is what his role will be as Jimenez lost his spot in the starting rotation and last pitched on July 8, lasting just 1? innings in a loss against the Angels.

Verlander gave up one run on five hits and two walks in six innings.

” “De La” did an outstanding job against a really powerful, unsafe lineup”, Weiss said.

Nolan Arenado blasted a solo home run to left off Gallardo to lead off the fourth and tie the game 1-1.

Making their first appearance in Toronto, the Padres were held scoreless until Alex Dickerson hit a two-run homer off Bo Schultz in the ninth. The three-time Gold Glove Award victor botched a grounder in the first inning and threw wildly to first base in the second, a mistake that led to an unearned run. It didn’t cost the Rockies a run.

Sanchez (11-1) became the first Blue Jays pitcher to win 10 straight since Roy Halladay won 15 decisions in a row in 2003. It was the first time Arenado committed two errors in the same game since August 9 of last season at Washington.
