Jones: Fumbles won’t hurt Ezekiel Ellliott’s carries
Jones defended Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott this morning on 105.3 The Fan, saying that Elliott holds the ball properly and that Elliott’s two fumbles this season aren’t an ongoing concern. Yesterday, he fumbled twice against the Washington Redskins, losing one, and was benched late in the game for backup Albert Morris. Alfred Morris could see a little more action moving forward, but Elliott remains the workhorse in Dallas.

“Obviously you have to protect the football”, coach Jason Garrett said, via Drew Davison of the Star-Telegram. Things could change if Elliott keeps fumbling, but it doesn’t sound like the one shaky performance will have much impact on his workload beyond Sunday’s win.
There have been 33 backs to rush at least 20 times this season and Elliott now ranks 20th among them in terms of Rushing Net Expected Points per play. “He’ll learn from the experiences”.

“Zeke does a lot for us, he actually opens it up for us out there”, Jerry Jones said. “He’s making a lot of that happen so you get those”. Again, Elliott had just four fumbles in his career with the Buckeyes, so he’ll certainly clean up that aspect of his game. “I’ve got to do better for myself”.
