Jones: I’ll apologise to Brown if he misses play-off game

The Pittsburgh Steelers aren’t a healthy team at a few key positions as they prepare to play the Denver Broncos in the AFC Divisional Round of the playoffs and head coach Mike Tomlin rattled off the injury report Tuesday during his weekly press conference.

Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict delivered a dirty hit on Brown as Brown attempted to catch a pass over the middle. A subsequent personal foul penalty on Adam Jones in the melee that followed made it easier for Steelers kicker Chris Boswell to boot a game-winning 35-yard field goal in the 18-16 Steelers victory. Tomlin said Tuesday that Roethlisberger will likely focus on the run game.

It was a memorable performance, one that extended Pittsburgh’s season at least another week. He then intercepted Roethlisberger’s replacement, Landry Jones, to give the Bengals the ball with under two minutes remaining. The coach adds that running back DeAngelo Williams and his injured right foot is “on the outside looking in”. “I will say that he had another culprit out there with him”. “We’ll see to what extent”, he said, per The Denver Post. As of this moment, all indications are that Ben Roethlisberger will play on Sunday at Sport Authority Field at Mile High.

The NFL announced Monday it has suspended Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict for three games as a repeat offender of the safety policy. “As fast as the game, as fast as all that happened, you’ve got to be pretty good to try and intentionally do something like that”.

Tomlin said he will “leave the door ajar” for Williams, but it seems Pittsburgh will go with the tandem of Fitzgerald Toussaint and Jordan Todman on Sunday.

The Steelers have even more doubts on the offensive depth chart. “We don’t have that opportunity”.
