After the incident, country officials declared the border a “military zone”, says Al Jazeera, and hastened to seal all entry points for those on the Syrian side.
It says several other vehicles involved in the attack were destroyed, but did not give further details.
The King added: “Unity of all Jordanians will enable them to counter all cowardly attempt that target Jordan’s security and stability, indicating that: “such criminal acts will only increase out determination to confront terrorism and terror gangs that target army personnel who protect the security of the country and its borders”.
Jordan’s deputy prime minister and foreign minister, Nasser Judeh, said the ISIS was behind the attack on Tuesday and called the militants of the group as murderers.
EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn said, “The EU Regional Trust Fund in response to the Syrian crisis allows us to deliver support rapidly and effectively to those in need”.
About 60,000 Syrian refugees have been stuck for months at a desolate informal camp on the Jordanian border just near where the attack took place.
In March, Jordan announced it had foiled an IS plot to carry out attacks in the kingdom in an operation that led to the deaths of seven militants.
He tweeted on his account: “Terrorists strike again his time against our border guard”.
“A number of fallen and injured Jordanian heroes”.
“In addition to that this is the largest casualty count amongst Jordanian soldiers for many years as well”.
On June 6, five Jordanian intelligence personnel were killed in an attack on their office in the Al-Baqaa Palestinian refugee camp north of the capital, Amman.
“If you look at three of the last four attacks, they have all been from inside from Jordanians”.
