Jordan eager to get back in the ring with a ‘Creed’ sequel

“It was kind of a weighty-ness that you live so much, and are you going to be able to pass this on, because otherwise, why are you even there?”

While Bianca proved depth for Adonis to grow, Rocky was where Adonis found his strength. It’s fantastic what Stallone has been able to do with this character in recent years, from 2006’s Rocky Balboa to his career-best supporting role in Coogler’s film.

“Creed” gets it done.

“It’s such a part of Philly that had never really been explored like that, and the way Ryan incorporated that [is] very elegant”, Michael B. Jordan told us.

Jordan took a few hits from the fighters he faced in the movie, including former three-time ABA Champion Tony Bellew, and unbeaten middle-weight, Andre Ward. He’s a solid actor that knows how to play the tormented and tortured youngster to near perfection and that’s exactly what he’s called on to do here. So, Creed is the archetypal angry kid from a broken home (think real life Mike Tyson, because the parallels of aggression are all too familiar). Done. For Ryan Coogler, his dream project was … a Rocky film. The movie was powerful thanks to the direction and screenplay by Coogler. And for me as a filmmaker, it was very interesting, because I realized in doing research, researching boxing movies and how often they get made, it’s very rare to find… Entertaining and stirring in its own right, “Creed” chronicles a young man’s loneliness, anger, vulnerability and his yearning for family. At least that was the case in the theater I saw it in.

The new movie follows Johnson’s bid to obtain boxing stardom by asking Rocky to come out of retirement to help him in his quest.

After almost 40 years, Sylvester Stallone just can’t quit Rocky Balboa.

The opening scene of “Rocky” takes place on November 25, 1975.

Which Creed moments were your favorite? The young man is the son of Apollo Creed, Rocky’s old friend who died in the ring at the hands of Ivan Drago. This wasn’t actually in the original script and was a suggestion from Sylvester Stallone. He added that this is Rocky at his weakest and that he is in a different fight this time around, much more dramatic and emotional. This was truly a passing of the torch that was flawless in every single way.

Of course, they also have the baggage from those gaps, with past wounds in their individual lives sometimes scraping against each other. Stallone will probably always be known as the Italian Stallion but what makes him special in Creed was his ability to morph himself into a message, not a coach.

Despite its predictable outcomes and overused clichs it was hard not to like “Creed”.

“I need one of those!” Additionally, we spoke with another Hollywood legend and one of the “Rocky” film series’ longtime producers, Irwin Winkler. If you’re not you should still enjoy it.

MPAA definition of PG-13: Parents strongly cautioned.

That sounds pretty awesome to me! There’s nothing in the story to shock or surprise you.
