Jordan Rhodes fuming with Blackburn Rovers after collapse of Middlesbrough move

Watford have reportedly joined Middlesbrough in the race to sign £9 million-rated Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes, according to the Lancashire Telegraph.

It is understood though that it could yet be resurrected with Boro still keen to land the player, who has 11 goals to his name so far this season, although he is not their only target with time running down fast.

“The clubs have both agreed a fee, Jordan wants to move on which seems to me, if he’s gone up there to talk to them, it’s edging towards that”.

“This is the third window now where he has wanted to go and we felt it was right to give him that opportunity”.

Middlesbrough said: “The club can confirm that we have held talks with Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes over the weekend but have failed to agree terms”.

However, Middlesbrough have claimed the deal broke down as they were unable to agree terms with Rhodes.

And if it can be sealed then the striker could be set for a fairytale Riverside debut on Saturday against his former club. But, nearly two months after a transfer embargo for breaking Financial Fair Play rules was lifted by the Football League, this transfer will greatly enrich the club’s accounts.

A statement on Everton’s website yesterday said the 29-year-old Republic of Ireland worldwide had been given permission to move on a short-term basis in order to get game time until the end of the campaign. “Jordan has been excellent for Blackburn, but the money is too good to turn down”.
