Jordan Spieth would take Ryder Cup glory over another FedEx Cup title

For the third time in the 10-year history of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, two Georgia Tech alumni will tee it up at East Lake Golf Club for the season-ending Tour Championship. His previous high finish was 50th in 2011.

Thursday: Golf Channel, 1-6 p.m. And it’s the way it has been in golf since Curtis Strange broke the $1 million barrier in 1988. The final three hours of the telecast on Sunday will be commercial-free.

The only player who could take PGA Tour Player of the Year honors from Johnson is Day, the world No. 1.

“Justin’s admitted that he’s put so much pressure on the Ryder Cup this year, he thinks it negatively affected some of his performances where, if it just wasn’t on his mind at all, he’d have maybe felt a little less stress or pressure trying to grab points at the end of the round instead of just playing his game”, the world number four added.

If one of those five don’t win the event then whoever does would need certain scenarios, mainly involving Dustin Johnson and Patrick Reed to go their way to claim the $10 million… you keeping up?

Everything points to an exciting contest between Dustin Johnson, the hottest golfer on the planet in 2016, and Jason Day, the most consistent player over the period of the last two years.

The Tour Championship is the final event before the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas goes to the world ranking to fill its 18-man field. Missing from that group is Rory McIlroy, who won the Deutsche Bank Championship but wound up as the No. 6 seed.

“It’s one I’ll be ready for and hopefully I can (win)”.

Like the previous three play-off events, the victor picks up 2,000 points – four times the amount given for a regular PGA Tour event. “It just happens. It’s like you’ve got to do the small exercises”. Spieth should be in solid form and he should be a strong pick to contend for the outright win at the TOUR Championship.

With only past champion status, which he had at the start of the season, he could only count on getting into tournaments where most of the top players didn’t show up.

With such a diminished field, we are going to highlight three players from the bottom half of the odds who have a solid chance at taking on golf’s darlings and bringing home a big win.

I have been riding Berger all year at these cheap price tags on DraftKings, and I don’t see any reason to fade him here this week at The Tour Championship. He tied for seventh. He has three wins this year, including a major, and has a total of 13 top-10 finishes in 20 events. The last player to win the Tour Championship without claiming the FedEx Cup was Phil Mickelson in 2009. He has top 10s in his last two trips – T4 (2010) and T5 (2015) – to East Lake.

Ross’ most famous PGA Tour course is Pinehurst No. 2 (par 72, 7,588 yards) in North Carolina which hosted the 1999, 2005, and 2014 U.S. Opens and the 2008 U.S. Amateur.

Nine of the 30 players at the Tour Championship are assured of being in Hazeltine next week.

“That’s kind of rude”, the twice major champion said in response to the question, before answering it directly when he could have diplomatically brushed it off as a hypothetical.
