The righty, who turns 30 next May, has pitched his entire career for the Washington Nationals.

The talks have grown serious, according to Jon Morosi and Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.
The Detroit Tigers are reportedly in serious talks with free agent pitcher Jordan Zimmermann.
The discussions between the two sides seem to be progressing nicely, which would mean Zimmermann is going to leave the National League after seven seasons with the Nationals, which puts him a little bit closer to where he grew up in Wisconsin. The Tigers entered the offseason intent on acquiring a pair of pitchers to round out their starting rotation.
“Recently, a number of team executives and player agents said they believed Zimmermann would sign for a guarantee of $100 million or more”, Morosi added, which would make him the first post-Tommy John starter to “receive a nine-figure contract”. He was selected as an All-Star in 2013 and 2014. He owns a career 3.32 ERA and 1.16 WHIP spanning seven years and has thrown 195-plus innings in each of his past four seasons with the Nationals.

Zimmermann isn’t one of the games elite strikeout pitchers, but he gets the job done and does it well. His 810 innings pitched over that time ranks third in the NL, behind only Clayton Kershaw and Madison Bumgarner.
