Jordy Nelson celebrates return with TD catch

The Green Bay Packers took on the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1 of the 2016 season.

Fittingly, Nelson caught quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ first touchdown pass of the season, a diving grab in the back of the end zone. The Alabama product produced 78 total yards on the day. The UCF alum was 24-of-39 for 320 yards and one touchdown.

Despite the unexpected situation, the Jaguars were functional on offense, totaling 348 yards of offense to Green Bay’s 294.

The Jaguars started off with the ball after the Packers deferred possession to the second half. “We put in a lot throughout this week and we put a lot into camp going into this game, but we’ve got many weeks left so we’ve got to bounce back”.

Ultimately, the pass-catchers showed Rodgers he could trust them, and two of them connected for touchdowns. The Jaguars are 2-10 all-time on the West Coast, including 0-3 in San Diego.

The drive was highlighted by two lovely throws from Bortles. In the receiving end, Jared Abbrederis posted 49 yards in two catches while Casey Pierce added 22 yards in a catch. The 29-yard touchdown pass to Davante Adams late in the first half came after Rodgers dodged a couple of rushers and managed to flick a pass to Adams while he was being dragged down by Jalen Ramsey. Fowler had been impressive early in training camp, but he struggled once the preseason began – he didn’t record a sack in three games – and defensive coordinator Todd Wash publicly called Fowler out by saying he needed to study more film on his own and take what he’s learning in the meetings and transfer it to the practice field. Still, Green Bay’s lead extended to 24-17. The throw was great, but the catch was incredible as well. The 16-play, 73-yard drive culminated with a 20-yard field goal by Crosby. Hurns was tackled by a swarm of defenders. “We’re into winning football games and changing this culture”.

Bortles marched his side up the field, but blunders forced the Jags into taking a field goal with time ticking away.

The Jaguars marched downfield with the help of a few penalties and another outstanding catch by Robinson.

After an exchange of punts, The Jaguars got into the red zone on a screen pass to Marcedes Lewis.

The next step is next week when the Jaguars head to San Diego to face the Chargers, who blew a 21-point lead in a 33-27 overtime loss in Kansas City.

After getting a quick first down the Jaguars found themselves in a third and two. With center Brandon Linder and guard A.J.
