Jordy Nelson practices for first time in camp with Packers
“It’s an opportunity and like I said over the last couple years my mindset has just to continue to prepare as a starter because obviously you never know when an opportunity like that would present itself or going into a game and just going out there to play”, said Tretter.

Nelson had been sidelined since the start of training camp in late July because of an unspecified injury to his left knee, which he merely termed “a hiccup”. It’s unfortunate what Corey is going through and continuing to battle to get back out there.
Nelson is one of Aaron Rodgers’ favorite targets on the field.
With Corey Linsley (hamstring) still on the physically unable to perform list, Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy said during his Monday morning news conference that Tretter has played well enough in his absence to “earn” the starting spot. He spent the rest of the practice time running routes and catching passes.
“Aaron and Jordy will work as much as they possibly can on one-on-one routes and things like that”, McCarthy said.
Yet, McCarthy wants to limit expectations, at least until Nelson gets his feet back. But he struggled with the added coverage and had his worst full season since his rookie year in 2011 (he was limited to six games in 2013), proving Nelson is still the team’s go-to guy.
“I mean that’s probably what we thought going into past year and things happened, so it’s a very talented locker room, but we got to put in the work, we got to do what we need to do and execute”, Nelson said. It’s a fluid situation of how everything reacts and how we feel.
“I can’t put a time on when another man is going to be comfortable”, fellow receiver Davante Adams said. I don’t know what the plan is for this weekend or next – if it’s going to be similar to what we did last week or if it’ll be more.
“It’s been big”, Adams said about Nelson’s return. Obviously, we’ll eventually build into team periods. But there’s been a lot of time that’s gone by since he’s been out there. “It’s another step in the right direction”. “I think usually when you come back for camp, it’s a little awkward, just because it’s your first day in pads even if you played the year before because we don’t do anything in the offseason”. Hundley started the game in place of Aaron Rodgers, who was a healthy scratch for the second straight outing this preseason. Hundley was sidelined two weeks early in training camp because of a sprained ankle.
