Jose Aldo Probably Not Getting Rematch With Conor McGregor Any Time Soon
Conor McGregor celebrates his stunning first-round knockout of Jose Aldo. I think I’m his worst match-up.

He said: “All through the week I’m watching videos of the Irish going insane throughout Las Vegas… the Irish fans, you can’t beat them. It’s been a insane, crazy year”.
“I feel for Jose”, McGregor said. McGregor pounced to hammer his left fist twice into Aldo’s defenceless head before the referee dived in to stop the fight. His trainer has said that the cut to featherweight is so burdensome that he should move up to the 155-pound lightweight division. After winning the featherweight title at UFC 194, he appears ready to take another huge step in realizing that goal.
First and foremost is the question of whether McGregor is remaining in the division. Had he thrown that combination at anyone else, be it Chad Mendes or Frankie Edgar, Aldo would not have been put away like that and may have even landed one of his big leg-kicks. “That could be for the featherweight belt”.
McGregor, who has only gone the distance once in 21 fights, offers a combination of power and precision.
These figures total $2,150,000 – however there’s no telling how many sponsorship bonuses McGregor had lined up from his various corporate partners and backers. A $10.1million gate, a phenomenal number. We did 10.1. I’m catching up. “I know it, and I think a lot of people know it. And I think he’s got to fight that fight before he makes that move”. “Those (expletives) are 40”. I’m only warming up. This is trending as the highest pay-per-view I believe of all time for the UFC.
“I said to Lorenzo, and I said to Dana – “I’m bringing these big numbers”.
Another scenario McGregor sketched at the presser was a featherweight title eliminator while he fights for the lightweight belt, followed by a trip back to featherweight, and then a trip back to lightweight to eliminate any contenders that arise in the interim. So, I enjoy options, you know.
‘I’m looking forward to going home and building a Christmas tree with my girlfriend and spending time with my family and eating good, good food’. “We have some decisions to make”, he said. While that would have to slow with him preparing for championship fights, four bouts every 16 months would yield two title bouts in each division, hypothetically speaking, which is about par for the course with several current champions.
Here’s the problem: If Ronda Rousey is getting a rematch with Holly Holm (which Rousey wants to happen at UFC 200), Aldo easily deserves one against McGregor.
“If they have Croke Park and they want him, I’ll take that, no problem”. There’s no vacating. That’s not happening. He was happy tonight, landed a good blow.
I can’t say I ever thought that in 2015, one of Ireland’s most globally famous athletes would be a mixed martial artist. I don’t need to gather any more intel, any more research. I’ll never fall in any provocation.
The answer was met with boos, as the crowd and Rogan took issue with Aldo’s apparent claim that it “was not really a fight”. That’s what you saw there. “I had a little moment where I felt sorry for Jose”, McGregor said.
“That event in Dublin spurred me on and showed me that ‘This is for me”.

“I wish him and his loyal team well on their journey back”. “I’d said I’d slip and bang the left hook”. It’s a whole other ball game.
