The hype leading up to the José Aldo and Conor McGregor fight at UFC 189 for next Saturday night for the UFC featherweight championship has been great.

“It’s been nuts. Right when that news broke, I started to get phone calls from everyone, texts from everyone”.

This happened as recently as last month in the UFC’s heavyweight division.

Dubliner McGregor had claimed he would need only four minutes to finish the fight against fierce rival and posted on Twitter after the announcement: ‘They can run.

Aldo also commented on the criticism he has faced in regards to the frequency with which he pulls out of fights, arguing that he has defended his title an average of twice a year.

Conor McGregor didn’t mince any words today in a UFC 189 media call. “I don’t want to go out there and leave it to the judges; I want to get in his face”. Only I, my family, coaches and teammates know how hard I worked to represent Brazil again. While Mendes winning wouldn’t necessarily be a nightmare, it’s far from ideal too, which is why so many people wanted to see the original fight postponed or Edgar be the one given the chance to square off with McGregor.

Mendes has fought for UFC featherweight gold on two occasions and, although he came up short both times, the growth that you see in fighters after title fights is usually vast.

Much like his teammates Urijah Faber, Joseph Benavidez and bantamweight champ T.J. “Jose Aldo’s pulled out of five title fights”.

“He reminds me a little bit of the way I always was when I grew up in bodybuilding”, said the 7-time Mr. Olympia in MMA Fighting. “I’ve done it. I’ve been there, so this is another fight”.

A 30-year-old American, Chad “Money” Mendes is an elite wrestler who was a two-time NCAA Division One All-American… which means that when it comes to wrestling, he’s good. I’ve pinpointed what those are and I’ve got to focus on those, but it’s not anything new though. “Every time I face against one of these individuals they break, so he will be no different”.
