Jose Aldo withdraws from Conor McGregor clash with rib injury

“I don’t know whether he’ll be back”, McGregor said, during the media conference for the upcoming UFC 189 event. He doesn’t care if the rest of his career is an afterthought.

McGregor believes he’s the main draw, regardless of his opponent. News broke last week that Aldo suffered a fractured rib while training at home Rio de Janeiro, but the UFC reported it was only severe bruising that would allow the fight to go on.

McGregor will enter the contest having yet to taste defeat inside the Octagon. And McGregor thinks it would make a whole bunch of money, too. That McGregor initially had a chance to ascend to the top of the weight class without facing at least one pedigreed wrestler seemed to irk many in the MMA community, not the least of which included a number of contenders who made their name on collegiate wrestling mats.

Yet his competition hasn’t exactly been championship-level. Is McGregor as good as his believers profess him to be?

That said, we want you to be able to look back fondly on McGregor vs. Aldo while we still had it – at least until the fight potentially surfaces again down the road.

Obviously, it was McGregor’s marketability that truly paved the way to his title shot.

Now we’re going to have to wait a little longer to find out. McGregor and Mendes are getting into it now.

At the same time, McGregor said he would not change his preparation for Mendes.

Mendes is the exact opposite. I don’t label this as the interim belt one bit.

The controversial songstress (48) is set to follow the Dublin sports star Stateside and perform The Foggy Dew before his fight with Chad Mendes tomorrow week.

McGregor appeared on TBS show “Conan” in America to promote the upcoming fight, he took the opportunity to challenge Mayweather to a fight.

“If a man is scared for his life, we can not force him to step inside and face me…” Money ends some day, but legacy and things you do becomes part of the history, and that’s what I value the most. “I felt through the (UFC 189) ‘World Tour, ‘ he was looking for his way out and thankfully for him, his coach, his team, they have found their way out”.

As of this writing, Mendes is going off as a slight underdog, according to Odds Shark. The 26-year-old Irishman will face Mendes for the interim featherweight strap.

If McGregor can pass this test, there will be very little to nitpick about him.

“It’s the McGregor division now”, declared Conor. That alone might be the most surprising outcome of all. Ex- light heavyweight champion Jon Jones shutdown a UFC event because of his refusal to take a fight under similar circumstances. The bottom line is they will not be delivering the most hyped fight of all time anymore and that hurts.
