Jose Mourinho invites Sir Alex Ferguson to visit Manchester United training ground

“This week we have eight days without a game”.

They seem to have struck form again as their big guns have fired and are now unbeaten in ten games in all competitions ahead of Monday’s clash against David Moyes’ Sunderland.

That is the sympathetic evaluation of Moyes’ struggles in Manchester. The travails of Louis van Gaal and Mourinho have put the size of the task at Manchester United into perspective. They’ve also spent £480 ($590) million since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013. Michael Carrick and Ander Herrera come into the game more, while Paul Pogba is a constant menace, as he looks to unlock the Sunderland defence. That’s the way it has been for me and I’ve got to say I enjoy coming back, I’ve always enjoyed coming here. “The way they were working in training sessions has given them the condition to go into the game and start immediately well”.

Sunderland’s leading scorer Jermain Defoe told the club’s official website that they would be trying to adopt the same approach that held Liverpool at bay for 75 minutes last month. Some people, not just in football but in life, it looks like they are happy, not with the things they get but happy with bad things others get. It will be vital that the Black Cats try and score the first goal in this match to give them confidence or it could turn out to be a long afternoon.

“I will feel that I’m going into a hard game and for us to get a result we will have to play really well”, said Moyes.

“He scores goals, he plays well and I’m really happy for him because he will end his career on a high, which is wonderful”. But United moved up a level in the second half although they had to wait until the 81st minute before Ibrahimovic eased them into the comfort zone. The player has yet to officially confirm he will do so but Mourinho believes there is no doubt the player has already made his mind up.

Manchester United FC coach Jose Mourinho greets the fans prior the UEFA Europa League football match between FC Zorya Luhansk and Manchester United FC at the Chornomorets stadium in Odessa on December 8, 2016.

David Moyes had his eyes on various other transfer targets, too.

“I am not really surprised because he is a very intelligent guy and he’s a very proud man”, the United manager said.

“I think we are optimistic because we have got a couple of results”.

“The kid is hugely disappointed, but there’s no fault of his on that one”. It was very close. “Toni Kroos was agreed to come in the summer”.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ last week, Smith said: “I thought from the start that he would have been the flawless player for Jose Mourinho. At the same time – I think this is even more important – the Premier League was changing”.
