Jose Mourinho: No problem with Diego Costa thinking about Atletico return

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes striker Diego Costa will see out the remaining three years of his contract with the club, despite his recent confession that he’d consider a return to former club Atletico Madrid.

When asked by the Spanish radio station Onda Cero last week whether he might return to the club where he made his reputation before moving to London for £32m in 2014, Costa said “you never know” and “life is full of surprises”.

Cesc Fabregas has used his personal Snapchat account to give his fans an insight into Chelsea’s preparations for their Premier League clash with Leicester City on Monday night.

Club president Florentino Perez still rates Mourinho as the best coach in world football and Los Blancos need a new leader, with Rafael Benitez’ arrival in the summer contributing to uninspiring performances on the field.

Costa is one of the players who has underperformed, scoring just seven times for Chelsea since January and four times this season. I don’t see that as a problem.

“He spoke with me but he doesn’t need to explain anything”.

Mourinho managed Real Madrid for three years but left in 2013 after a trophy-less season. “So in this moment I am less anxious than I was”.

“The truth is that I want the best for Atletico, I always cheer them on from afar”. “I wanted to win things in Portugal, I wanted to do well in Europe, to try one day to get a chance to leave my country and to go to a different sphere. We are confident he will be back to his best very soon”. “I have to improve and the team has to improve”.

The Coventry City winger said in an interview with Sky Sports that Chelsea FC have the quality to recover from their nightmare start – to the extent that they can defend their title this season.
