Chelsea returned to winning ways on Saturday at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues securing a much-needed victory against Norwich, albeit by just a one-goal margin.

Jose Mourinho maintains Chelsea can finish in the Barclays Premier League top four after admitting Diego Costa’s scoreless streak had weighed heavily on the striker.

He says that he spoke to Mourinho about playing in the number 10 position prior to the end of Chelsea’s League Cup tie at Stoke, when he ended up missing the key penalty in a shoot-out loss. He said: “We don’t have pressure; we play like we want”.

“Me and the fans didn’t deserve to have our heart in our hands in the last four minutes”, Mourinho said.

Ask anyone you know who they’d have in their sides between Ronaldo and Hazard. Then in the last four minutes you are there and you think that maybe we’d score in our own goal.

Mourinho also reserved special praise for Eden Hazard, who picked up the Man of the Match awatd. “Every game you don’t score goals you have five kilos more pressure added”, Mourinho said.

“Of course. I don’t have a problem with him”.

Mourinho said he was not generally nervous during a game but the dying moments were tough.

“He’s not scoring goals, but he’s working very well”. Kurt Zouma flicked a corner on to the bar while Nemanja Matic, another who looked sharper, slalomed through the Norwich defence only for Ruddy to save again.

The Brazil-born Spain striker had spurned two good opportunities and been absent in the six-yard box when Eden Hazard fashioned two more before pouncing following Cesc Fabregas’s quick free-kick in the 64th minute.

A goal from Diego Costa brought reprieve to millions of Chelsea fans world-over with many hoping that it could be a turn-around from the disastrous season they have had so far. He is the best manager for Chelsea and we hope we can win a lot of trophies together.

“We’re delighted to win”, Terry told Chelsea TV ahead of the Champions League trip to Maccabi Tel Aviv on Tuesday. Sometimes you don’t. You just have to keep going, waiting for better results or performances.
