Jose Mourinho’s crisis deepens as Chelsea lose 1-0 to Stoke City

Jose Mourinho was forced to watch from the Chelsea team hotel as Stoke City defeated the Blues 1-0 at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.

Seven defeats in 12 Premier League matches does not make for a very good reading, for the defending champions.

Asked if he was concerned about the prospect of a change of manager, Bosnia worldwide Begovic told Sky Sports: “That is out of our control but we are behind the manager, you can see that from our performances”. We deserved to win it, I think, but we lost.

Mourinho, who has said the club will have to sack him if they want to get rid of him as he will not resign, has also had his disciplinary problems.

“His spirit and his presence is always there, he’s always around us and prepared us well and we wanted to get a result for him”. From our point of view, we think he’s the right man and he’s obviously somebody we respect and work hard for.

With the Portuguese manager under intense pressure, reports have suggested that he’s spoken with owner Roman Abramovich and persuaded him to give him the chance to stay into the transfer window.

And Wright, who scored 185 goals for Arsenal, says Costa’s not the same player he was last season and should be sold.

“But in the Premier League, certainly this year, the middle group of teams are presenting a challenge for the top teams”.

“He could have been a little bit more cynical and looked for the penalty, and who knows – at that stage it probably would have been given”.

Chelsea have described as “utter nonsense” a claim from a Stoke steward that Diego Costa stamped on his foot. Although Stoke is known for it’s physical playing style, it was Chelsea drawing first blood as eight minutes into first half Erik Pieters of Stoke City suffered bleeding nose, which stopped the game for 4 minutes. It’s the kind of match I like.

“So you have to stick at it, and we have been able to go up the other end and score a great goal ourselves. You have to stand up and be tough to beat”.
