Chelsea won the Premier League comfortably last season, and while their rivals have strengthened their squads, only Radamel Falcao, on loan, and Asmir Begovic have arrived at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho gave the club a boost on Friday night when it was announced he had signed a new four-year contract until 2019.

‘But because we wanted to try to get a goal we went with him until the end and it was very important and new for us that he played for 90 minutes with such a physical performance.

“I wasn’t happy with my medical staff because even if you are a medical doctor or secretary on the bench, you have to understand the game, “ said Chelsea manager Mourinho”.

In great news for anyone associated with Chelsea FC, Jose Mourinho has claimed that Diego Costa’s hamstring is as stretchy and elastic and warm and whatever it needs to be in order to feature against Manchester City this coming weekend.

The Swans were fully deserving of their point at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and the Welsh outfit proved the Blues are unlikely to have things all their own way this term.

They tied premier league newcomers Watford.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has insisted that his side can cope with the pressure of being involved in the Premier League title race this season.

However, the Blues manager is confident that his current players can move forward and bring in an extra dimension which can make them better and equip them for a proper title defence.

“I do what’s best for the team and if that means being ruthless and making some tough calls, I’ve proved in the past I’ll do that”, he said. At the same time they have lengthened the odds on Chelsea, who have endured a poor run of pre-season games that has not seen them win or score many goals. “During the season we have to play three times a week nearly every week, so I don’t think it would be a problem to start one week later and then one of these weeks have two fixtures”.

“At home a draw is only good in special circumstances, like last season when we were nearly champions and a draw against Manchester United would be a good result. You can be a better team with the same people”.
