Josh Donaldson to undergo MRI on injured right hip

“I thought he was good”, manager John Gibbons said.

On the field, the Jays have been playing bad baseball.

Corey Dickerson hit a home run and had four RBIs and Kevin Kiermaier also went deep for the Rays in the rubber match of the three-game series.

Adding: “Sometimes you have to step back in order to take that next step”. I got Kiermaier out in front on a decent changeup, it was down.

Both the Jays and O’s are two games behind the AL East leading Boston Red Sox.

“I elevated a fastball and luckily he swung”, Farquhar said. “But for my hip it’s something that’s been a little bit gradual”, Donaldson said. I know things are going to change.

The Blue Jays left seven men on base, including a bases-loaded situation in the seventh that ended with an Edwin Encarnacion strikeout by Danny Farquhar.

Russell Martin had a two-run shot, but Toronto lost for the eighth time in 11 September games. “We’ll get an MRI today and do everything we can to make sure he’s on the field as soon as possible”.

Atkins said the MRI would come Wednesday night or early Thursday. Instead, Toronto barely managed a single win in the three-game set, eking out a mere six runs to the Rays’ 17.

“We’re all struggling right now”, Estrada said. “I don’t see how much lower it can go”.

“I only have three starts left and they are all really important to me”, he said.

“But it does take 25 players, it does take a team to win, and we have depth in those areas (utility infielders). and we feel good about our offence”. “You can’t prepare to lose a player of that calibre and level”.

This is a team seriously off its stroke, clearly discombobulated and at a loss about how to fix itself – a reset which might have to take place without Donaldson as part of the corrective.

Donaldson declined to describe the pain he’s experiencing, but he can’t move side-to-side and certainly can’t pivot.

“When I hit the base it was more some other things that were going on”.

Treatment, treatment, and more treatment has been Donaldson’s way of life for the past couple of days, but the injury hasn’t responded the way anyone had hoped.

Martin said Stroman deserved a better fate. When he faced Ramirez, he threw a pitch that broke towards the dirt, but Ramirez broke out the pitching wedge and launched it into the Blue Jays’ bullpen. His record drops to 8-9 on the season and 1-5 in his last seven starts.

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Marcus Stroman looks on as Tampa Bay Rays’ Alexei Ramirez rounds the bases after his three-run home run during fifth inning American League baseball action in Toronto on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016.

The Jays’ schedule features six National League opponents: The Brewers (home and away), the St. Louis Cardinals (away), the Atlanta Braves (home), the Cincinnati Reds (home), the Pittsburgh Pirates (home), and the Chicago Cubs (away).

Despite poor performances against the rest of the AL gang (7-9 against both Boston and NY; 4-11 against Baltimore), the Rays managed to solve the Jays over and over again this season.

Reimold, making his first start since September 3, added a two-run shot two batters later, clanging a 3-2 Pomeranz pitch off the light tower on the Monster.
