Journalist pulls out of Milwaukee over escalating racial tensions

The shooting sparked two nights of unrest in Milwaukee’s Sherman Park neighborhood, with reports of several injuries, over a dozen arrests, protesters burning buildings and cars, and multiple reports of shots being fired.

Police haven’t said who shot the man, but that they continue to look for suspects.

Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke said Smith had been arrested 13 times. The charges were dropped because the victim recanted the identification and failed to appear in court, Chief Deputy District Attorney Kent Lovern told the newspaper.
