Juan Gabriel dies; Mexican superstar singer was 66
Born in Paracuaro, Michoacan, Juan Gabriel transcended Mexico with his music and his personality, capturing the hearts of Hispanics and non-Hispanics alike.

Juan Gabriel was in middle of a tour in support of an album of duets he released this year. Gabriel had just performed on Friday at The Forum in Los Angeles and was scheduled for another concert on Sunday in El Paso, Texas.
He worked for more than 40 years and sold more than 100 million albums.
He also acted in several films after his debut in 1975 in the movie Nobleza Ranchera.
Over the course of his career, he received many honors, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from La Opinion Tributo Nacional, a People’s Choice Latin Music Award and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Gabriel’s death prompted an outpouring of condolences and remembrances, including a tweet from Mexican President Enrique Peña-Nieto.
“His music was his legacy for the world”.
Juan Gabriel was a prolific singer, with almost 1,800 songs and sales of more than 100m albums.
He added, “A voice and a talent that represented Mexico”. “He has left us too soon. May he rest in peace”. We lost one of the biggest and most talented artists of all time.
His classic hits include “Querida”, “Porqué me haces llorar?” He brought many adoring fans to tears as they sang along when he crooned his songs about love and heartbreak.
