Henry Setright, QC, representing Miss Al-Jeffrey, told the court she was taken to Saudi Arabia because her father disapproved of her “relationships and conduct”.
The girl holds dual citizenship for both Britain and Saudi Arabia, but the latter doesn’t accept her British citizenship.
The High Court was told she is now being held against her will at her father’s home in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, The Times reported.
He said on Wednesday that issues raised were “important and difficult” and that he had to consider whether he had the power to make orders relating to a woman overseas.
Mr Justice Holman said he had to consider whether he had the power to make orders relating to a woman overseas.
Neither Miss Al-Jeffery nor Mr Al-Jeffery have been at the hearing in London, which is expected to end on Thursday.
It was until he received a guarantee from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office that his daughter would not be granted sanctuary that he allowed her to attend a meeting with consular staff at a hotel under the supervision of someone he employed.
The court heard she is also physically abused, refused permission to marry the man of her choice and deprived of food and water.
‘She is a normal Welsh girl and still has her Welsh accent, ‘ she said. He said her mother and siblings were back in South Wales.
“She wants to return home so she can have control of her own life and make her own choices”.
Mr Setright added that the father believed his daughter was “someone he has a duty to control, including her freedom of movement”.
“It is therefore necessary to make an order”.
“Regarding returning Amina back to the UK”, Mr Al-Jeffery had written.
She is being severely mistreated under her present circumstances, allegedly kept locked in a cage whenever her father leaves the home. “None of the claims are remotely admitted”.
