Judge Blocks Videos of Planned Parenthood Baby Parts Sales

Many, if not most of these folks, would have no care at all if their local Planned Parenthood office were to close down.

A federal judge in San Francisco on Friday blocked the release of any recordings made at meetings of an abortion providers’ association by the anti-abortion group the Center for Medical Progress.

The Center for Medical Progress has recently released several secretly recorded videos that have riled anti-abortion activists, including one Thursday of a Planned Parenthood doctor in Colorado.

“NAF would be likely to suffer irreparable injury, absent an ex parte temporary restraining order, in the form of harassment, intimidation, violence, invasion of privacy, and injury to reputation, and the requested relief is in the public interest”, he wrote.

Federal law requires that healthcare providers be reimbursed for their costs in the processing, storage, and shipment of fetal tissue samples to be used for medical research.

Bette Grande says she lost her seat in a recent election because Planned Parenthood “poured close to $2 million” into North Dakota and tagged issues ads with Grande’s name-sealing her narrow defeat.

Others speakers at the Salt Lake City rally said they also are committed to abolishing abortion. He has said that his group still intends to release more videos. In light of yet another video brutally detailing the reality of abortion and harvesting of baby organs, it is a massive liability. The federation argued that any released recordings would put its members in danger.

Planned Parenthood’s attacks, Daleiden added, do “not change the facts about what our investigation has uncovered and what the American people now know – that Planned Parenthood is engaged in an enterprise-wide operation that traffics and sells baby body parts“.

For Catholics, the videos reflect the need to be mindful of what St. John Paul II called “the culture of death” in his 1995 encyclical “Evangelium Vitae” (“The Gospel of Life”). It has accused Planned Parenthood of selling fetal tissue for profit, which is illegal, and Republicans in Congress have begun discussing cutting off funding for the organization.

CMP has now published four videos showing Planned Parenthood doctors negotiating the sale of fetal tissue, though the organization’s president insisted afterwards that the funds were only reimbursement for the transport of the “specimens”. The thing is, states can only cut off state funding, and Planned Parenthood still receives federal money for its preventive care work through Medicaid and Title X, a federal grant program for family planning services.

“PPRM determined we would not enter into a contract proposed by BioMax because they did not meet our legal and ethical standards”, Vicki Cowart, CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, said in an statement emailed after the edited video’s release.

The Senate could vote on a bill to defund the organization as early as Monday – a bill which is not expected to pass due to lack of support from Democrats and, even if it did, would face a potential White House veto.
