Judge denies request by Cosby’s wife to delay deposition

But late Saturday night, her lawyers filed an emergency motion to stop the deposition – or at least move it to a venue that is more private than the MA hotel where the proceedings are supposed to take place. Camille Cosby’s lawyers argued that she “will be subjected to a parade through a sea of reporters” and open to “eavesdropping and gawkers”.

A federal judge in MA has ruled that Cosby’s wife must answer questions under oath in a defamation lawsuit filed by seven women who claim Cosby sexually assaulted them decades ago. The women claim Camille Cosby could provide significant information about Cosby.

Bill Cosby’s wife, Camille Cosby, is expected to be deposed Monday despite efforts from the comedian’s lawyers to prevent it from happening.

Correction: A previous version of this story reported that a judge delayed Camille Cosby’s deposition; but that was incorrect.

The defamation case doesn’t involve the woman in a criminal case against Cosby. Cosby has denied their allegations and has filed a countersuit against them.

Bill Cosby is now facing a charge of aggravated indecent assault in Pennsylvania from a 2004 incident.

Camille Cosby, who married Bill in 1964, has stood behind him.

Cosby is famous for his role in “The Cosby Show”, a popular family sitcom that aired in the 1980s and 1990s. Earlier this month, lawyers for Cosby filed a breach-of-contract suit against rape accuser Andrea Constand, her mother, her lawyers and the parent company of the National Enquirer.
