“The Court’s unfortunate, but not surprising, ruling permitting a limited deposition of Mr. Cosby regarding the statements of his former attorney Martin Singer was legally incorrect and deprives Mr. Cosby of a right well-settled under California law to have his motion to strike heard before unnecessary, expensive and burdensome discovery”, said Monique Pressley.

“As reported by The Guardian, attorneys for Cosby responded to the lawsuit stating, “… documentary proof and Ms Dickinson’s own words show that her new story about something she now claims happened back in 1982 is a fabricated lie.
We will see what comes out of the deposition as the case unfolds. Dickinson claims that Cosby drugged her drink and proceded to rape her during a trip to Lake Tahoe, CA in 1982.
“We will certainly fight it, and I think we will win”, she said.
According to the New York Times, the deposition will focus on “whether Mr. Cosby and Mr. Singer knew or should have known that the statements made in Mr. Cosby’s defense were false”.
The only other time Cosby has testified under oath in such a case was in a deposition for a lawsuit brought by a former Temple University employee, Andrea Constand, with whom he reached a settlement in 2006. According to Entertainment Tonight, she had dinner with Bill and then he gave her a pill to help alleviate menstrual cramps. She claims Bill sexually assaulted her. The other thing she remembers is Bill removing his patchwork robe and getting on top of her. She remembers intense pain and that is all.
“The next morning I woke up, and I wasn’t wearing my pajamas, and I remember before I passed out that I had been sexually assaulted by this man”, Dickinson told ET.
The Los Angeles Superior Court judge said that Lisa Bloom, Dickinson’s attorney, can depose Cosby and his former attorney, Martin Singer, before November 25th.
Dickinson sued Cosby for defamation in May, claiming that the denials Cosby’s attorney has made of her allegations have re-victimized her and damaged her reputation. Singer has denied Cosby raped Dickinson. He’s never been charged in connection with any of the allegations.
