The State Department is reviewing almost 15,000 emails as part of a batch of previously undisclosed communications that emerged in the FBI’s yearlong investigation of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s use of a private server while secretary of State.

Earlier on Monday, a US federal judge called on the US Department of State to release the emails earlier than the middle of October when it had said it would.

The Clinton campaign immediately released a statement saying that they were in favor of any new emails being released to the public.

These are all emails that Clinton sent or received during her tenure as secretary of state, and they were not among the 55,000 documents turned over by her lawyers previous year.

A government watchdog that is suing for access to Hillary Clinton’s government emails says it will urge a federal judge to quickly order the State Department to release new emails from Clinton.

Boasberg ordered the agency to provide a status update on September 22 on how numerous documents it has reviewed can be released under a Freedom of Information Act request. “Court hearing today”, Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said on Twitter. “We can not comment further as this matter is in ongoing litigation”.

Republicans are stepping up their attacks on the Democratic presidential nominee’s handling of sensitive government information that flowed through the server located in the basement of her NY home.

State Department officials said Monday the communications, contained in 14,900 documents, represent both personal and work-related materials that must now be vetted by authorities before they can be made public. It is unclear how many documents might be attachments, duplicates or exempt from release for privacy or other legal reasons.

In announcing the FBI’s findings in July, Comey said investigators found no evidence that the emails it found “were intentionally deleted in an effort to hide them”. The second disc is labeled as emails containing classified information.
