Judge: Prince May Have Had a Will that Hasn’t Been Found

When ET sat down with the singer’s half-brother, Alfred Jackson, last week, he said that he was under the impression that Prince had “another” son, in addition to his child with ex-wife Mayte Garcia, who suffered from Pfeiffer syndrome and died a week after his birth. If the siblings can’t agree, the personal representative will be going to court a lot, she said.

Court documents reveal she was represented at a hearing Monday and consented in the case.

Eide asked a packed probate court hearing a series of questions, including whether anyone knew of a will, if there were any indications Prince did not live in Carver County or if there were any objections to appointing Bremer. Prince was a faithful Jehovah’s Witness, causing some to speculate he may leave some of his fortune to the religion’s Kingdom Halls.

Bremer gained access to Prince’s suburban Minneapolis mansion last week, and its physical search for evidence of a will has been fruitless.

Prince is reported to have left behind a £200million fortune and his sister Tyka filed papers last week to say he did not have a will. Two of those, one half-brother and one-half sister, are deceased. Considering Bremer Trust has dealt with the icon’s accounts before, it makes sense they’d be the one to take care of his money until an executor is approved. The hearing was at Carver County Courthouse in Chaska.

“We are not finding that there’s no will, but that no will has yet been found”, Eide said. “None of us know what claims will be made”.

Eide did not set a date for future proceedings.

“Everyone is in full accord”.

Now Prince’s surviving family members – a sister and five half-siblings – are seeking control of his estate, the Prince Brand, which includes his record label, and the contents of a vault of music believed to contain thousands of unreleased songs.

If such a person exists and can prove that Prince was his or her father, then that could insert even more tension into the effort to settle Prince’s estate.

Prince’s former security chief, Duane Nelson, who died in 2011, has been widely described as Prince’s half brother.

A woman claiming to be Prince’s half-sister has come forward saying she is entitled to part of the late pop star’s multimillion-dollar estate, legal documents show.

Despite reports that the siblings themselves are already squabbling, Frank Wheaton, the attorney for one of Prince’s half-brothers, Alfred Jackson, who was at Monday’s hearing, denied it in interviews with reporters after the hearing.
