Razo fired five shots at a 40-year-old Painesville woman and her two children as they walked along the bike path, police said. A judge set his bond at $10 million. One shot struck the woman in the arm, and she was hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries.
Razo was arrested after exchanging gunfire with police.
A detective said during a court hearing in Painesville on Tuesday that 35-year-old Juan Emmanuel Razo has confessed.
A woman found dead in her home was slain by the same man who shot another woman in a nearby park and tried to rape a 14-year-old girl, authorities said today. Razo quickly surrendered to the deputies.
Juan Emmanuel Razo, 35, was armed with a rifle when he was arrested Monday after a shootout with SWAT team members at a park east of Cleveland, authorities said. Unsure of Razo’s status, the deputies contacted Border Protection officials and were told he is from Mexico and in the U.S. illegally but they didn’t want him detained. An attorney entered a not guilty plea on Razo’s behalf.
Razo is charged with attempted murder and more charges are expected.
