More: And the best quotes from the Emmys are.

We’re sure Julia’s father would be proud.

“I’m actually not Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ father”, Dreyfuss, 68, wrote Sunday night. The actress – who is extremely popular for her character Elaine in Seinfeld – is now known as Selina Meyer on hit TV show Veep.

On a night when politics played large in the midst of an extraordinary 2016 US election campaign, Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus also won her fifth straight Emmy for her role in the satirical White House comedy.

“Lastly, I’d like to dedicate this to my father, William Louis-Dreyfus, who passed away on Friday”, she said.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to personally apologize for the current political climate”.

Staffers also fetched little Emmy-branded water bottles for anyone who asked.

Kate McKinnon, 32, won her first Emmy in four nominations, taking home the prize for supporting actress in a comedy for “Saturday Night Live”.

“I’m so glad he liked ‘Veep, ‘ because his opinion was the one that really mattered”.

Regina King claimed the award for supporting actress in a limited series for “American Crime”, her second trophy for the program.

Many suspected the star was bored of the ceremony, as the camera shifted to her early in the show, to show her less-enthused face moments after.

Light was one of the first stars to walk the carpe Sunday, along with fellow nominees Felicity Huffman and her husband, William H. Macy.
