Julian Edelman replacements: Who fills in for star New England Patriots receiver?
Over the first four games, the Patriots scored points on 65.9 percent of their drives (excluding kneel-downs), scored touchdowns on 41.5 percent, and turned the ball over on 4.9 percent. That was immediately evident on Sunday when Amendola filled in for Edelman, catching 10 passes for 79 yards.

Reiss said it comes down to playing time and opportunity.
If that’s the case, his New England Patriots (9-0) are leading the pack of runners past the midway point of the race, but the pace is slowing a bit due to the rigors.
This past weekend against the NY Giants, Patriots star receiver Julian Edelman left the game with a foot injury and is expected to miss the rest of the regular season, and perhaps even the playoffs.
The Patriots offensive line is more banged up than they were that week, with Nate Solder out for the season and Sebastian Vollmer, Marcus Cannon, and Tre’ Jackson working their way back from injuries. Oh yeah, no problem.’ He’s got 12 going at once.
One issue is that the team’s offense is a little predictable, and it could be a problem without wide receiver, Julian Edelman. That makes sense up to a point: He’s probably the Patriots’ best healthy receiver within tight spaces, and he seems to have Brady’s total trust now.
As a Red Raider, Amendola racked up 204 receptions for 2,246 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Do you think the New England Patriots will go undefeated?
For the Patriots, the game plan should be simple: keep athletic, playmaking Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor in the pocket and force him to try to beat them with his suspect throwing arm through the air.
It’s unlikely the Patriots will make many situational mistakes Monday night, if any.
OVERRATED: The Bills’ fourth-quarter rally in Week 2. More than anything, he needs to improve his consistency. “I mean, we’re not moving him to tackle…no, I mean he’s going to do what he does”.
Keshawn Martin is still obviously a good player for us and is hopefully coming back here soon. This was a let-’em-play scenario that drew a flag and negated a 20-yard reception simply because the practically innocuous contact proved so effective.
I’m glad he said this week that he has no intention of changing his style despite having drawn four offensive pass interference flags so far this season. Plus, they have an extra day to prepare.
Sunday’s 27-26 win by the Patriots in the Meadowlands was one of the best games I have seen in a while. I’ve gotten away from that for a couple of reasons. These two longtime foes meet annually in AFC East battles, although with Tom Brady holding a 24-3 career mark in games against Buffalo it’s hard to describe the recent series as a battle. It’s the definition of random: a brief clip of Raiders quarterback Dan Pastorini dodging Fred Smerlas and heaving an incomplete deep ball to the best deep threat of his day, Cliff Branch.
“I’d say it’s pretty much as advertised”.
The one thing you can’t give Brady is time to throw, and he doesn’t need a lot of it. If the Bills can’t rush his throws, they are going to have a long night. But the interesting shifts toward the pathetic when he talks about the Patriots.
The Patriots may have beaten the Giants, but we all lost years off our lives. They want to beat him? On the other hand, Edelman has an 8.1 yards per punt return average. I loved Gronk’s response: “He’s an excellent player”.

A smaller player like Welker, Amendola has proven less durable than the ultra durable Welker. So we’ll see what he can do. In other words: The talking will be done on the field. “They’ve been doing this for years, shuffling guys in and out and still making plays, so it’s going to be tough to get them off the field because he’ll find the guys who are open”.
