Julian Edelman reportedly has second foot surgery, likely out until camp

When New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman returned from a broken foot to play in the playoffs previous year, the fragility of his situation was reflected in what happened after the game.

Edelman did return for the playoffs, and he looked like his old self in the divisional round, when he caught 10 passes for 100 yards.

The 29-year-old Julian Edelman initially broke his left foot in November against the New York Giants, underwent surgery procedures at that time to have a screw inserted in his foot and missed the rest of the 2015 National Football League regular season.

The recent procedure was the second surgery on his left within the past year. He surprisingly returned to practice on December 12, and used the next month to get ready for the postseason.

After the first surgery, Edelman missed a total of eight weeks.

Although Edelman doesn’t put up Gronk-like numbers in the Patriots offense, he is one ofTom Brady’s favorite weapons.

Selected in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft, Edelman has been with the Patriots his entire career. Since 2012, Edelman has missed a total of 16 games due to injury. It’s unclear if Edelman suffered a refracture in the AFC title game.
