Julian Edelman: Spotted at practice Friday
Friday’s practice was the first he had participated in since the injury, indicating that though he nearly surely won’t be available Sunday against the Texans, his return is imminent.

But just the sight of both players working, even on a limited basis, has to be terrific news for a Patriots team that has fallen to the AFC’s No. 3 seed with two straight losses and a tough game ahead. He joins Rob Gronkowski as surprise returns to the practice fields in advance of the Patriots’ Week 14 game against the Houston Texans. At one point, Edelman and Gronkowski were stretching on one knee, turned to each other and exchanged a high-five. “I’d like to be back as soon as I can, but doing it safely and smart and just trying to improve each day”, Edelman said.
However, if the Patriots catch a break in the race for playoff seeding, there’d seem to be little doubt they would be overly cautious with him. If the Patriots were lucky, they expected to get him back for at least a portion of the postseason, as they make their run at a second consecutive Super Bowl title. Edelman was the only member of New England’s 53-man roster who didn’t take part in Thursday’s practice.
