Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes has hinted the drama may not be completely finished once the sixth and final series has aired on television.

“I question it would be a prequel”.

“I think it’s right to stop when people are sorry and not when people are relieved”.

The British essayist has not by any means wrapped shooting the last scene for the 6th – and last – season of the uncontrollably fruitful arrangement, however he is as of now gunning for a film.

“I’ve missed this face”.

On why it was good that Downton was ending now, Hugh said: “I think it could have been squeezed out for another couple of series, but I think Julian would have run out of ideas”.

The cast and crew of “Downton Abbey” have been capturing their emotional last days on set as they prepare to say farewell to the series.

Dockery also peeked in on Mary’s bedroom one last time, the place where she enjoyed memorable encounters with Kemal Pamuk and, presumably, Matthew.

Elizabeth McGovern said that she wasn’t as stoic as she thought she’d be.

Her on-screen husband Hugh Bonneville, who plays Lord Grantham, took a more practical approach to saying goodbye to cast members he’s worked with for the past six years.

He said: “We might – it’s something we’ve talked about”, he said.

“I will miss being Mrs. Hughes”, said Phyllis Logan, “because she’s become part of me for the past six years”.

The two stars joined their fellow Downton cast as the top ITV period drama was honoured by BAFTA in London.

Castmembers past and present attended, including Dame Maggie Smith, Lily James, Hugh Bonneville, Jim Carter, Penelope Wilton, and Steven’s former onscreen wife Michelle Dockery, as well as creator Julian Fellowes.

Producer Gareth Neame recently said making the show into a feature film would be a “wonderful thing”.
