It seems that Derek will be able to balance the ballroom competition and the “Hairspray Live” gig, which is going to air on NBC most likely in December. The fan favorite is giving fans great news today after it was learned that the six-time Mirror Ball trophy victor will be back on the show.
Hough, who has won the ABC dance contest a record six times, will return to compete, and sister Julianne Hough will be back as a judge, E! Derek is excited about coming back to Dancing with the Stars.
“It frees me up to do some other things too, so it’s kind of fun …”
While ABC has not announced the judges for Season 23 yet, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Len Goodman were on the panel last season, and even with Julianne coming back, sources say there has been no talk of any of them departing. She’s served as a permanent judge for several seasons, but like her brother Derek, she was absent from last season.
Maksim and Val Chmerkovskiy won’t be the only siblings reuniting on Dancing with the Stars season 23.
With this exciting new development, Season 23 is looking more and more like it’ll be a reunion season of sorts. It will be his first appearance on the show since Season 18 as his fiancee, pro dancer and Dancing With The Stars member, Peta Murgatroyd, will sit this season out due to the impending birth of the couple’s first child. Mark Ballas is also expected to return for Season 23.
