Julianne Moore, Robert De Niro team up for TV series
Talk about star power.

Actors Robert De Niro and Julianne Moore are teaming up for a TV series, which will be helmed by David O. Russell. As exciting as the prospect already is, further details are scarce-and the show’s plot is still a complete mystery.
It is understood that the show will be a limited series, with United States entertainment trade website Deadline reporting that the storyline is either a crime or police thriller. In fact, I hear that offers for big commitments are being solicited prior to the pitch going out, which is very rare for a TV series.
T.H.R. reports that Russell will direct the unnamed series; no other directors are attached as of now, though Scott Lambert, Alexandra Milchan, and Megan Ellison are set to produce. There is no word yet on writers or whether the show is being shopped to networks, cable or streaming services.
That’s exactly what’s happening here, and given the buzz that this project is starting to build, we can’t wait to see how David O. Russell’s TV series develops as it moves forward. He quickly exited the project and ABC reversed course on the series, which was poised to star Betsy Brandt.

The Russell/De Niro/Moore project comes after Russell earned back-to-back screenwriting Oscar nominations for Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle. Julianne Moore has a much more extensive list of television credits, having starred in the CBS soap opera As the World Turns from 1985-1988, as well as appearing and starring in multiple television films since 1989, most recently in the 2012 HBO film Game Change in which she portrayed former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin. He’s got two Oscars in his trophy case, for 1974’s “The Godfather Part II” and 1980’s “Raging Bull”.
