June 27 is National HIV Testing Day
The Sedgwick County Health Department is offering free HIV testing tomorrow in accordance with National HIV Testing Day. Jeanne Atherden said: “Although June 27 is HIV Testing Day, testing is available year round, so do not forget to get tested and know your status”. The test is confidential and it takes only about 20 minutes to obtain results.

Cure continues to evade HIV and about 1.2 million people are living with the deadly infection in the U.S. alone. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says 30% of the newly infected people – in all, 45,000 new cases are diagnosed each year-are infected by people whose HIV is undiagnosed.
Anyone 18 years or older can be tested, and connections to care and other resources can be provided as needed.
AIDS Delaware is encouraging people to get tested for HIV. The website also has information and voucher codes to allow people to get free or low cost STD testing.
And according to the Mississippi State Department of Health, 10,000 people in Mississippi have HIV. “We know testing and education is the key to preventing this disease and stopping the spread”.
National HIV Testing Day (NHTD) – an annual observance to promote HIV testing.
