Juniper unveils new architecture for enterprise networks
The airline will work with Juniper to create a private cloud and IP/MPLS core backbone that will underpin its new flight management and customer management systems, which are being introduced this year, and will run a significant number of BA’s routine, customer-facing processes, including baggage tracking, ticketing, and check-in. The upgraded network core will link British Airways’ data centers and other operational sites around the U.K.to help ensure fast, reliable connectivity and digital communications. The latest technology innovations in the architecture include Junos Fusion Enterprise, enhancements to Junos Space Network Director as well as advancements to the Juniper Networks EX9200 line of programmable Ethernet switches.

Gerard Allison, senior vice president EMEA, Juniper Networks, said: “British Airways’ ongoing expectations of online capacity growth and dependence on critical applications to drive the business requires an intelligent network that delivers automated, secure, agile networks”.
British Airways isn’t the first big-name cloud customer for Juniper Networks; NIKE previously selected the firm to build a data centre for its cloud and network infrastructure.
Paul Renucci, vice-president of Europe, the Middle-East and Africa sales at Juniper, said: “BA is a good example of an older, well-known business that is leveraging transformative technology as a way to keep ahead of the game”.
Additionally, Juniper redesigned its security management systems with increased threat protection, automation, visibility and control over workflows.
Based on Juniper’s latest networking software, systems and cloud services, Juniper Unite will deliver agile and secure network architecture for enterprises looking to quickly deploy cloud applications and services through a single, easy-to-manage network management platform.
