Jurgen Klopp backs under-fire Liverpool player Jordan Henderson

Arguably the Premier League game of the weekend will take place at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon as Tottenham Hotspur welcome Liverpool in the early kickoff.

However, Klopp has Jordan Henderson, Grujic and Lucas as the player to field at that position.

Pochettino’s side and Liverpool under Klopp have drawn many comparisons for their respective pressing games, but the Argentinian does not see them as the same tactics. Now, as the backlash continues, Klopp himself has addressed the England midfielder’s future on Merseyside. I actually think they will go close to winning the league this season as they have a good nucleus, don’t give away much defensively and have an impressive manager.

‘Jurgen sent me a selfie to prove it was him, ‘ the 30-year-old said.

“It’s quite easy. I like this player and he is very important for this club 100%”. He is a wonderful skilled player and his attitude is outstanding.

“They always have to show that they are not the reason we have not made the next step”.

If he can produce results, win some trophies along the way and of course produce special comebacks, there’s no reason why he won’t be able to meet the demands expected of him on Merseyside.

Indeed, until the German’s public praise today, there were suggestions that he had been left unhappy with Henderson’s form and fitness coming into the season.

“Last season people had big expectations or a big question mark about how we would develop our squad, our team, I think it was very hard work to improve and develop our style of play”, explains Pochettino.

Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson has come in for some criticism.

We want to create the possibility for our players to be fit for the whole season. “After the global break we can start to work on small details and develop different possibilities to play linked with our work on the pitch”.

“Maybe with three points more at the end we would have been there, but there was a big sign of quality”.

When we visit the Capital for the second time this season, it’d wouldn’t take a real stretch of the imagination to see us splitting the difference; in two outings, we’ve been from one pole to the other, and it’s time we settled somewhere in the middle. Even if I had selected different players to start it still would have been a good line up.

That result doused the optimism flowing from their opening 4-3 win at Arsenal in which the 30 million-pound signing from Southampton produced an early contender for goal of the season
