Jurgen Klopp “convinced” James Milner can play left-back for Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says his side deserved more than just a draw from today’s game against Tottenham Hotspur. “We made one mistake in and around the goal for their goal”, Klopp said.

“I picked him – last 10 minutes”, Klopp told BBC Match of the Day after the game.

Georginio Wijnaldum slipped in Adam Lallana behind the Tottenham back line, and the England man squared for Mane to tap home and double the Reds’ lead.

Pochettino was the more satisfied of the two managers afterwards and hailed the “fantastic character” shown by his players as they fought to establish a foothold in the match. Eric Dier was at right back, but he became increasingly risky in the second half.

“I still feel a little bit disappointed, [even though] we took a point against Tottenham”, the German said after the game.

“I am very happy with my squad”. He will play and he will score and all will be good.

Game time for Saturday morning clash is 7:30 am and it will be streaming live in the USA on NBCSN and its platforms, including NBC Sports Live, as well as LFCTV GO and television coverage on Sky Sports 1/HD for the viewers living in the UK.

Klopp hit back and said: ‘Why should I think about something like this?

Resolute defending, top goalkeeping, calculated attacks and a Milner goal were the major talking points in the first half of the match.

Naturally, the perceived snub drew plenty of attention from the media in the aftermath of the game, with former Liverpool player and manager Graeme Souness revealing his belief that the England global had “a mountain to club” to force his way back into the starting line-up on Sky Sports after the clash.

On 28 minutes, Spurs were forced to an early change with Kyle Walker going off injured and replaced by Vincent Janssen.

“The effort was fantastic and the character we showed”. It’s not easy when you play a team who are flawless on the counter attack and you need to take risks. It’s probably a fair result.

The England global played in a right-wing role last weekend as Liverpool lost 2-0 to Burnley and the striker came out and emphasised that his best position is as a striker.
